Valentines Cookie Cutter Lunch

creating personalised valentines gifts for all of our customers. It truly is a real privilege to be able to help people show someone special just how much they care. With Valentines Day falling on a Tuesday this year we've been thinking about the kinds of things you can do with the children over the coming weekend, when you may have more time together as a family. Last week in our blog, we showed you how to create a personalised Valentines card in a toddler-friendly craft activity that developed fine motor skills. Today, we're sharing our Valentines Cookie Cutter lunch!

This lunch is best prepared with fresh fruits and vegetables, making it great for healthy choices and can be enjoyed at home or (if you're feeling brave at this chilly time of year) in the garden or on a picnic. You can use fruits and vegetables of your own choice but here's what we used to prepare ours:

Cucumber

Watermelon slices

Strawberries

Grapes

Red bell pepper

Slices of bread

Cream cheese (or sandwich filling of your choice)

Cocktail sticks

Heart-shaped cookie cutters in various sizes

First we sliced the cucumber into 1 cm thick circles and using the smallest cutter, pressed out a few shapes. The heart shapes were plated up and the remaining circles were set to one side. Then using the same small cutter, we created some red watermelon hearts. These were placed inside the cucumber circles and added to the plate.

One of the largest cutters was used to create a couple of large watermelon hearts. Then we sliced up a few strawberries and cut out some shapes on each half with the smallest cutter.

We cut some grapes in half, at a slight angle and paired them in heart shapes before sliding them on to a cocktail stick.

Next we spread one of the slices of bread with some cream cheese filling and using the largest cutter, made a large heart cutout in the other slice. The side of the bell pepper was cut away and used to create a large red heart with the same size cutter.

This was then used to assemble the sandwich. All of the items were then plated up together for a fresh and tasty lunch!

We hope you love this idea for a fresh and healthy Valentines lunch. If you do, we’d love you to consider sharing it or saving it to Pinterest. Thank you!
