Easter Craft - Nanna Sparks' & Tilly's Sock Bunnies

With Easter only a short time away and the holidays already upon us, it's no surprise that many parents and grandparents are looking for fun and interesting things to do with the children, like Easter craft, activities and games. @nannasparks found a really fun and easy make that can be easily created with your little ones using items you most likely already have around the home. Once she made a couple of practise versions, she sat down with Tilly and guided her through making her a bunny of her own. Now we have quite a number of these adorable Bunny friends around the Sparks and Daughters studio!

Our sock bunnies are super cute and so easy to make. Take a look at how we made them below, watch @nannasparks step by step video for more detailed instructions and why not give it a go yourself?

To make your own sock bunny Easter craft you will need:

Some old socks - various sizes, colours and patterns make for more interesting bunnies!

Rice for the filling, you could also use sand or grit

Some coloured or patterned ribbon

Some strong thread

A sharp pair of scissors

A small pom-pom for the tail

A marker pen with a fine tip

A funnel or Kilner jar lid

Step 1: Fill the sock with your filling of choice to just above the heel, making sure you leave enough of the sock empty at the top to form the ears. Use a funnel or stretch the top of the sock over the Kiner jar lid to make this process easier

Step 2: Stand your bunny and decide where his neck should be, which is just below the heel. Then, using the thread, tie off that section to create the neck, being careful not to tie too tight or else he will have a very wobbly head when you're done!

Step 3: Use the thread once again to tie off the sock at the top of the filling, leaving enough empty fabric above, to create the ears. Tie off once again at the top of the head as securely as possible to prevent any of the filling coming out

Step 4: With your scissors, cut vertically down the centre of the top section to divide the fabric into two and snip in some curves to create the ear shape

Step 5: Attach your pom-pom, either with glue or a needle and thread, to create the tail

Step 6: Tie a bow around his neck, using the ribbon of your choice

Step 7: Finish off your bunny by adding facial features with a marker pen. Draw on a pair of eyes and a diagonal cross for his cute little nose

Finally, Step 8: Make some more, so your bunny has some friends to play with!
