Five different ways to record Baby's Milestones

Between broken sleep and the complete change of routine, it's no surprise that parenthood goes by in a bit of a blur, so how do you make sure to preserve all those special memories and record baby's milestones? Baby Milestone Books are probably the most common way that new parents keep a record of all their little ones' 'firsts' and they're a wonderful thing to have to look back on in the future, but why stop at just that?

Here are some other creative ideas for preserving those memorable moments in the early days.

Create a seasonal scrapbook

Why not dedicate an entire scrapbook to all of baby's very first holidays? Whether it's Christmas, Easter, Halloween or even their first birthday, gather together all their cards, special photos and any other mementoes to display inside a beautiful scrapbook. Write about what you did, who you were with and any special moments from each day. Decorate the pages with seasonal themes, colours and designs. When your little one is older they will really enjoy looking through it!

Document their first year with a milestone blanket

Babies change so much in the first 12 months. Taking a photo each month of their first year is a wonderful way to celebrate how much they have grown as they approach their very first birthday. You can even print and frame your photos to create a unique timeline on the wall of your home! Our Botanical Milestone Blanket has proven to be one of our customers' most favourite items and it's been such a joy to see so many tiny little babies grow!

Keep a list of their first words

For babies who have begun talking, start making a list of their first words. This is especially fun if they have their own words and sounds for things. @mummasparks has been doing this since her daughter Tilly began talking. You can read more about it in our 'My Hygge' blog from earlier this year.

Create a time capsule

Using a pretty box to store everything, collect together some of your most favourite keepsakes such as baby's first outfit, their hospital wristbands, first curl or a birth announcement card. For an extra dose of nostalgia, why not create some notecards and write about what was going on in your family, or even in the world at that time? Write about the little things that you may easily forget in time, but will bring the memories flooding back when you read them once again in the future.

Take a photo a day for the first 12 months

This one probably takes the most commitment but the end result is simply beautiful. There are plenty of apps out there that you can use to make a photo slideshow with your precious pictures. If you're really wanting to capture a feel for how much happens in baby's first year, why not create a video of daily video clips? This one from Youtube is one of our favourites, it's so beautiful - try not to cry!
