What season should you get married in? Save the Date with our guide!

Choosing the right season you should get married in is something that takes a lot of consideration. According to Hitched.co.uk, their 2018 survey found that on average, most couples spend 13 months planning their wedding so thankfully, there's plenty of time to narrow it down before you need to send out your invites!

Different seasons can impact your wedding day in different ways, such as the mood, the decor and even the dress code. Ultimately, you need to choose the time of year that suits you most. Perhaps Autumn is your favourite time of year, or a Spring colour palette is everything you dreamed of. Don't forget, it's not only your wedding you will be celebrating but your anniversary every year after, so there's that to bear in mind as well.

The best thing about choosing the right season to get married in is that whichever one you go for, they all have amazing and unique qualities that will give you the wedding you've always dreamed of! Here are some of our favourite reasons why each of the four seasons are a great choice.

Long Summer days

One of the very best things about a Summer wedding is the sheer amount of time you have on the day. With evenings staying light until around 9.00pm, there's no rush to get everything done early, leaving you more flexibility when it comes to taking your photos or even holding the ceremony itself.

Every colour of the rainbow

Summer florals are available in every colour you could possibly want, which means your colour palette can be as whimsical, classic or even tropical as you choose.

Festival of love

There's no doubt about it, Summer lends itself well to saying 'I do' outdoors. Throw in some live music, local food and festoon lighting for a festival vibe. Why not invite your guests to camp out under the stars too?

Golden afternoon

The rich tones and auburn hues offered by Autumn are hard to beat. With the days getting shorter and as the sun begins to set, the afternoon light makes for magical photos that bathes everyone in a beautiful golden light.

Don't sweat it

A September wedding could give you the best of both worlds - endless blue skies and sunshine without the heat. Perfect for making sure your makeup doesn't run!

The perfect guest list

Sitting right between the Summer break and Christmas, you can be sure that most of your friends and loved ones will be around to share your special day.

A touch of theatre

Snowfall and frosty mornings provide a stunning and dramatic backdrop for amazing photos and will make your colour palette really pop!

Get comfortable

Candlelight and winter menus will make your guests truly feel at home. A hygge atmosphere is a wonderful way to enjoy your special day and make memories with your friends and loved ones.

Location, location, location

With fewer weddings taking place during the winter months you'll have a wider choice of venues and you're likely to save money on the cost of your wedding too.

True Romance

Spring, with its rosy pinks and delicate lilacs, creates a naturally romantic theme. If pretty pastel colours, vintage florals and delicate fabrics are everything, and you just love a good old fashioned love story, then this season will keep the romance going in every anniversary celebrated in the years to come.

Say yes to the dress

With the weather warming up a little bit after Winter, this season lets you have fun with fabrics and dress style. Springtime is perfect for showing off any wedding day look that you want!

Begin your new adventure

“Spring adds new life and new beauty to all that is.”

If you really want your wedding day to be symbolic of your new journey as a married couple, then there's no other season that encapsulates 'new beginnings' quite like the Spring.
