Halloween Food Fun - Witches Hat Spooky Treats

With only a matter of a couple of weeks until October the 31st and the half-term break coming up even sooner, it's good to have a number of activities planned to celebrate the spooky season with your little ones and some Halloween food fun is always a firm favourite with the children.

Halloween is, without doubt, the season for sweets and treats of all kinds and at this time of year, you'll be sure to find treats that fit the theme beautifully, such as chocolate eyeballs and jelly snakes. But what about creating a special way to present your spooky treats? This simple make is really easy to do and your little ones will have great fun with it!

How to make your Witches Hats

To create each 'Hat' you will need a box of wafer ice cream cones, some digestive biscuits and a bar of milk chocolate

For decoration, you will need some ready-to-use icing, white chocolate stars and some jelly diamonds

For the method, take a look at our video and follow the instructions below!

Melt your chocolate carefully in the microwave in short bursts, stirring each time until it is fully melted. Next, fully coat each of your wafer cones with the melted chocolate, a small silicone brush is the best way to apply it. While the chocolate is still wet, apply the chocolate stars all over. We found using a toothpick was the best way to do this without it getting too messy! Chill the cones in the fridge until the chocolate has set.

Once set, fill each cone with a selection of spooky sweets. Then cover the top of a digestive biscuit with more melted chocolate and press the filled cone down on top to 'seal' the sweets inside.

Finally, to decorate, use the icing to create a ribbon around the brim of each hat and add a jelly diamond to create the buckle.
